University of Montana Offers Unique P.E. Course
Earlier this week, I discovered the University of Montana offers a horse and mule packing class. It allows students to explore the Bob Marshal Wilderness Complex while earning college credits. It's a unique, fun class you can read up on with the link below.

After publishing that story, our intern and student at the University Nicole Service informed me of a different, arguably more unique class. She said the University offers a class on pole dancing.
ACT 130 - Pole Fitness & Dance. 1 Credit.
That's the official name in the 2024-2025 University of Montana Course Catalog. The course description says you'll "Learn basic turns, spins and strengthening techniques to mount and climb the pole. Create dance combinations and learn tricks and poses that are broken down into comprehensive step-by-step instructions. Delve deeper into inversions and combinations, as well as expand on skills and tricks."
Pole dancing is mostly associated with strip clubs, I know, but its popularity as an exercise has increased. I haven't attempted pole dancing, but it looks incredibly difficult. Scaling and holding onto a pole while you twirl through the air isn't a walk in the park. It seems like a fun exercise to fine-tune your body into a shredded goddess or god, we don't judge here. Think about it. You're pulling your weight up a pole and twirling yourself through the air while maintaining a grip. I'm working up a sweat just typing this out.
Also, I'm picturing a 21-year-old Neanderthal boy reading this and saying "Oh boy! A class where I can watch people pole dance? Sign me and my hyperactive hormones up." And then he shows up on the first day and finds out this is not the exotic dancing he pictured.
Poor Chad.
