UM Hosts Griz Welcome Events to Help New Students Feel Comfortable

The University of Montana is hosting a full slate of Griz Welcome events to help students feel comfortable, included and ready to study. Hailey Michelson is the Program Manager for Student Involvement and she says there are events from Saturday, August 17, to Friday, August 30.

“We have about two full weeks of programs every evening,” Michelson said. “We have grocery bingo. We are doing capture the flag out on the Oval. We are showing a screening of the movie Mean Girls. We are doing a Shakewell Concert out on the Oval, which I am really excited about. We are taking over Splash Montana on Sunday, August 25, and we are having a UM Pool Party.”

Volunteers will help UM students move into their new home away from home on Saturday, August 17.

“We have a ton of folks from the community and from campus,” Michelson said. “Faculty, staff and fellow students are going to help students move in. We are still looking for volunteers. If anyone out there wants to get involved, they can do so by signing up at our Griz Welcome website. The new students really appreciate it.”
