Montana Grizzly Football Team All Smiles After Crushing UC Davis
After a humbling defeat last week to a Pac 12 Conference school, fans were wondering just how good their team really was. Let's look at what we learned tonight.
AGGIE-NIZING LOSS FOR THE HOME TEAM
The University of Montana Grizzly football team went on the road for a second consecutive week against the10th-ranked FCS team in the country, the highly-regarded UC Davis Aggies.
Led by their three biggest offensive stars, the Griz scored early-game, mid-game, late-game and oh so often, demolishing UC Davis 62 - 22 Saturday night in Davis, California.
INCREDIBLE NUMBERS
Senior running back Eli Gillman had a career game, stunning the Aggies by running for 275 yards and scoring 4 touchdowns. His 10.6 yards per carry average was over three times what the Aggie defense was giving up against teams on the ground.
Sophomore wide receiver Brooks Davis went for 121 receiving yards on 9 catches, including a touchdown.
And while junior quarterback Keali'i Ah Yat did not have to throw the ball often thanks to some of Eli Gillman's huge chunk runs, he had an amazing quarterback rating, completing 21 of 31 passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns, while also running the ball in for two more scores.
And the lopsided score along with time of possession would not have been possible without the Grizzly defense stepping up and playing their best game of the year against a high-scoring passing attack, including three sacks and 8 tackles for loss.
The Griz are likely to move back up in the rankings after the huge win, having slipped to #5 in the polls after their 52-17 loss to Oregon State last week.
HAPPY HOMECOMING
Montana now sets its sites on their Homecoming game next Saturday, October 3, hosting Northern Colorado. If you need another reason to get fired up about the 2026 Griz, don't miss the annual Yell Night Pep Rally Friday evening in front of Main Hall on the UM Campus.
