Last month, it was officially announced that, after careful consideration, Run Wild Missoula had decided to cancel this year's Missoula Marathon. The marathon is one of the biggest events to take place in Missoula all year, and brings in people from all over the world - so naturally, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was a pretty difficult thing to pull off.

But if you were training for the marathon and you're bummed that you won't be able to race this year, Run Wild Missoula isn't about to let that stop you. They're encouraging everyone to hold their own virtual races - 5Ks, Half-marathons, and marathons - and complete the race by June 28th.

Once you complete your virtual race, you report your results back to Run Wild Missoula, who will tabulate the runtimes and publish the unofficial race results. On July 1st, they'll be sending out participant shirts and medals to everyone registered who finished the race.

This seems like a great option for anyone looking to stay fit and misses that marathon experience - it won't quite replicate the experience of crossing the finish line with that huge crowd of people cheering you on, but hopefully it'll tide you over until the marathon can get back in action for next year.

Will you be doing a virtual race?
