MCPS Announces Leadership Changes at Four Schools for the 2019-20 School Year
Leadership changes will be implemented at a handful of Missoula County Public Schools next school year. MCPS Communications Director Hatton Littman says several principals announced their retirement earlier this year and one principal announced that he was moving on to another position at an international school. That left vacancies at four schools in Missoula.
“One of those elementary schools, which was Lewis and Clark, their principal had retired,” Littman said. “Their position had been filled with Amy Shattuck who moved over from Franklin Elementary to Lewis and Clark Elementary. Last week we announced to parents and the community new principals for Franklin Elementary, C.S. Porter Middle School, Sentinel High School, and Seeley-Swan High School.”
Hatton says some schools will bring in some new faces from other states, but one local school promoted one of their own.
“Mr. Ty Solberg, who is currently the Assistant Principal at C.S. Porter Middle School, will now be the C.S. Porter Principal,” Littman said. “Ms. Lynsi Morris, who is currently an Instructional Coach within our school district, will now fill the principal position at Franklin Elementary. Mr. Ryan Rettig from Kennewick, Washington, will now be the principal at Sentinel High School. Mr. Kellen Palmer from Douglas, Wyoming, will fill the principal position as Seeley-Swan High School.”
Superintendent Mark Thane says he is excited to see these new leaders help their school communities in reaching their full potential.
