As goes the University of Montana's schedule, so goes my schedule this weekend! Two commitments for sure. Don't know about the sweater.

My coworker, Peter Christian, and I once again have the honor of reading the names of graduating University of Montana students who are participating in the Fall Commencement ceremony, as they come up on the stage to receive their diplomas.

While much smaller than the traditional spring ceremony, it is still given all the pomp and circumstance those students in attendance deserve. According to UM News Service,  close to 1,200 students across all UM's departments are eligible as fall and summer, 2022, degree candidates. That is up 100 from last year.

Because of the Christmas holidays and other factors that can make participation more difficult this time of year compared to the spring, only about one-quarter of those eligible will actually attend the graduation ceremony.

Fall Commencement gets underway at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday) in the Adams Center on the UM campus. Which brings us to our next event.

As public address announcer for University of Montana Lady Griz basketball, I will be on hand for a very unusual tip-off time, and hope you will be there as well in your most, uh, festive seasonal garb.

Because the Adams Center is being used Saturday for graduation, there needed to be some extra time to get it back to a basketball facility. Therefore, the Lady Griz basketball game won't start until 6:00 p.m. Sunday. But hey, that just gives you extra time to find that perfect, ugliest sweater, right?

Yep, it's Ugly Christmas Sweater Night when Montana hosts Montana Tech. Your exquisite taste in holiday attire could make you a prize winner!

Congrats to the latest Griz grads and here's hoping we see lots of Lady Griz Nation Sunday evening.
