
Oscar-Nominated Movie Quietly Brings Montana Into The Fold
The Academy announced this year's Oscar nominations last week. In case you missed it, here were the nominees for Best Picture.

I have seen seven of the ten movies so far (I haven't seen Bugonia, Hamnet or Sentimental Value yet) and so far so good. I've liked most of the movies.
Last weekend I watched Train Dreams for the first time, and I was surprised to see that the movie was set in Idaho.
"The film follows a humble Great Northern Railway worker, living in and around Bonners Ferry, Idaho, who witnesses the 20th-century transformation from the remote forests of the American Northwest to the arrival of new technologies," said Ra Moon of Atlas of Wonders.

The Atlas of Wonders article says the movie was primarily filmed in Washington, however.
There is a scene in the movie that features the Davenport Hotel in Spokane that had me reacting like...
There is a part in the movie where Joel Edgerton's character picks up Kerry Condon's character. Edgerton's character asks where she's from.
"But I lived a long time over in Montana — Noxon" -Condon's character in Train Dreams

Train Dreams is an incredibly sad movie, but I loved it. It may be slower paced for some folks, but I thought it was great.
But still very, very, very sad.
