When You’re Too Curious For an Ordinary Montana Garage Sale
Blenders? Cassette decks? End tables? Adirondack patio furniture? Garden gnomes?
No, not you? Do you seek items a bit out of the ordinary to please your garage sale palette? Are you aficionados of the curious naturalist items? Bones, books, shells, art, rocks, minerals, and so much more?
Well, maybe yes, maybe no. We mainly wanted to give a shout out to the good people at the Montana Natural History Center, and their Curiosity Cabinet Garage Sale. It's happening this Saturday, October 5, from noon till 3:00 p.m. The center is right on the River Trail, across from McCormick Park, at 120 Hickory Street in Missoula.
The mission statement of the Montana Natural History Center is to "promote and cultivate the appreciation, understanding, and stewardship of nature through education. It was the brainchild of a group of educators who were involved in various efforts to educate both kids and adults about the natural history of western Montana."
The History Center gives you the opportunity to check out exhibits, visit the Naturalists Labs, Nature Adventure Playground and much more.
Some of the unique items you might find at the Curiosity Cabinet Garage Sale include:
>Natural history-related books and field guides
>Rocks, minerals, shells, pressed plants
>Nature-themed art
>Clothing featuring flora/fauna
>Taxidermy, bones, furs
>Binoculars, magnifying lenses, microscopes, spotting scopes and nets
>Nature notecards/postcards
>Vintage camping and outdoor gear
>Nature journaling supplies
All garage sale proceeds will support Montana Natural History Center's programs for all ages. If you've never visited this Missoula gem, Saturday would be a great day to get better acquainted.
