Missoula Food Bank Needs Your Help With Empty Bowls, Full Souls

The Missoula Food Bank & Community Center needs the community to help out with its Empty Bowls, Full Souls fundraiser.

"On September 2, community members will gather around bowls of soup to listen to the people working closest to food insecurity in rural Montana," per a press release from The Missoula Food Bank.

Empty Bowls, Full Souls can be found at the Cooper Space on the 4th floor of the Missoula Public Library.

The event will highlight how "long distances, limited transportation, and fewer local resources can make it difficult for residents to consistently access the food they need."

You'll hear from rural community members and food bank staff about how residents are experiencing food shortages and what the food bank and surrounding areas are doing to tackle the challenge.

“Rural residents know their communities best,” said Jessy Lee, MFB&CC Director of Development. “This evening gives us a chance to listen to their experiences, learn from the work already happening, and consider how we can be a stronger partner.”

Tickets cost $40, with all proceeds going to the Missoula Food Bank & Community Center. Not that you should need any other reasons to go, outside of donating to a good cause, but you'll be served a soup dinner and get to take home a ceramic bowl handmade by a local artist.
