One of the things 2020 will be remembered for is all of the events that have been postponed, canceled, or moved to a digital platform. This almost seems weird to say - but an event that was canceled last year has just announced their plans to return for Thanksgiving next week. Yep, that just kind of sounds backwards at this point, doesn't it?

We'll take all the good news we can right about now - so it was a welcome sight to see that the Goodfellows will return to holding their Thanksgiving dinner event after being forced to sit out last year. The group aims to help those in need for the holidays and their annual turkey feast typically serves 400-500 people in Missoula. The last few years of the long-running tradition had been taking place at Fuddruckers - but you know the story there - Fuddruckers closed last October. That left Goodfellows no choice but to make the hard decision to not supply dinner for the community last year.

Hooray for all the pieces falling into place and the news that this year's event will take place at the Top Hat! ***sidenote: the Top Hat has some pretty awesome outdoor dining domes that you can reserve for your next meal.*** Nick Checota, owner of the Top Hat, touched base with the Missoula City-Couny Health Department to put a plan into action for the best way to serve up hundreds of meals while facing the restrictions from COVID-19. He shared his thoughts in a KPAX article. “It’s our hope to be able to have a mix of indoor/outdoor dining, as well as take out. We’re going to run all three and manage the capacity of the room. We have a lot of experience on how to handle that environment, and we’ll have a hostess at the door and we’ll just manage the flow of people so it’s a safe environment.”

This is great news for so many people that will rely on a helping hand to be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner this year. Thanksgiving meals will be served from 11 AM - 3 PM on Thanksgiving Day at the Top Hat.
