Honeydew at Missoula Humane Society Isn’t Melancholy With 3 Legs
This sweet little gal has been through a lot lately. But with her disposition, mobility and playful attitude, you'd never know.
It was another Take Me Home Tuesday at the radio stations with the Humane Society of Western Montana. Katie introduced us to Honeydew, a 10-week-old light tan ball of fur, the last of a litter of 7 that recently came to the shelter. And the fact she is still there is understandable, as she had some challenges that has slowed the process down for her.
When she arrived at the shelter, Honeydew had an abnormality in her left front leg. Long story short, it was growing in the wrong direction. So the vet team at the Humane Society recognized the pain she was in and that she was unable to put in weight on the leg. After much consideration, the decision was made that Honeydew would have a fuller, happier life as a three-legged pup and amputated the leg.
For as new as the experience is, it was amazing to see how nimble Honeydew is on three legs, and that includes still being hampered by the cone that keeps her from chewing at the stitches. But she will be good to go soon. Don't miss your chance to see this wonderful little pup in search of her forever home.
THE SHELTER AND ROXY THEATER UNITE FOR A FUNDRAISER
The Humane Society of Western Montana and Missoula's Roxy Theater are partnering on Monday and Tuesday, August 25-26, presenting the movie Isle of Dogs, a stop-motion animated science fiction comedy-drama film written, produced, and directed by Wes Anderson. A portion of the proceeds are going to go to the Humane Society of Western Montana, who will be bringing a few dogs to the Roxy for people to visit with before the show starts.
Showtime 7:30 both evenings. Don't miss it!
