Runaway June Lands First Top 10 by All-Female Group Since 2005
Runaway June's latest single "Buy My Own Drinks" is burning up the charts. The song becomes the first Country Airplay top 10 song for an all-female group since 2005. "Buy My Own Drinks" also becomes Runaway June's first top 10 on the chart.
The trio, consisting of members Naomi Cooke, Hannah Mulholland and Jennifer Wayne, released "Buy My Own Drinks" as the lead single from their latest album Blue Roses. The album was a success for the group, as it debuted at No. 5 on Billboard's Country Album Sales Chart and at No. 36 on the Top Country Albums chart after its release.
The last single to reach the top 10 on the Country Airplay charts by an all-female group was all the way back in 2005, when SheDAISY's "Don't Worry About a Thing" peaked in the top 10 at No. 7 and would become their last appearance in the chart's upper region.
Runaway June also gains another distinction—namely, becoming only the fourth all-female group to have a top 10 hit on the Country Airplay chart since it was first introduced in 1990. SheDAISY notched a total of four top 10 singles, The Forester Sisters claimed two, and the Dixie Chicks hold the record for most Country Airplay top 10 singles for an all-female group with a staggering 14.
Prior to the group's smash single, Runaway June scored two top 40 hits on the Country Airplay chart with their songs "Lipstick" and "Wild West," which peaked at Nos. 28 and 36 respectively.
Runaway June is currently on the road with Carrie Underwood on her Cry Pretty Tour 360. Tickets for the remainder of dates are available here.
