What a wild few months for the movie industry because of COVID-19. Turn back the clock to March and at the time it seemed so crazy that movies were starting to shut down production in the middle of filming. When will we be able to see new Hollywood films from the comforts of a theater in Missoula? AMC announced an opening date but then pushed it back because studios were postponing their new releases. Right now, the theater chain plans to open again on July 30th and hopefully Missoula will be included in those plans.

Movie lovers in Missoula have been able to enjoy some classic films in a whole new way. With the PaddleHead's season being cancelled, Centerfield Cinema has been a big hit at Ogren Park. Every Thursday night you can socially distance while watching a movie from the outfield grass or the stadium seats. Check out the list of upcoming shows HERE.

Here's another option to get outside and enjoy a movie. University Center & UM Housing are presenting an outdoor movie night next Friday at Campbell Park. Grab the family, practice social distancing, and enjoy Disney's Lilo & Stitch beginning at 9:30 on July 17.

Here's the info from the event page on Facebook:

Join us for a FREE socially distanced outdoor summer movie in Campbell Park at the University Villages, where we will show the family-friendly favorite, Lilo and Stitch. Campbell Park is across the street from the corner of Cinnabar and Laurin Ct. Please bring a mask, and practice social distance of at least six feet from parties that are not your own. Snacks will be provided.

We will allow entry subject to Missoula County Health Guidelines at the time. Please stay tuned for more information on that as we get closer.

Please call (406) 552-3409 for accessibility accommodations at least one week before the event.
