
Montana Among Worst States For Military Retirees Says Study
Memorial Day is fast approaching. It's a day to honor, celebrate and remember the members of the United States military who gave their lives in the line of duty.
It's a special day for Veterans, families of veterans, active military members and pretty much anybody with a heart.
Even though it'll be a special day in Montana, a recent study by the financial website WalletHub shows that Montana is among the worst states for military retirees.
Montana ranks #41 in the best states for military retirees
After crunching the numbers, Montana ranks in the bottom 1, says WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo.
In order to ease the burden on our nation's military community, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia based on their ability to provide a comfortable military retirement. Our analysis uses a data set of 28 key metrics ranging from veterans per capita to the number of VA health facilities to job opportunities for veterans. - Lupo via an email

Montana received a total score of 47.23, with poor performances in the health care and economic environment subcategories. Montana ranked 42nd in health care and 35th in economic environment.
Economic environment looked at state taxes on Military pensions, veteran-owned businesses, job opportunities and more.
Health care looks at factors such as VA health facilities, physicians per capita, veteran suicide rate and more.

South Carolina was ranked as the best state for military retirees, while Oregon was checked in dead last.
