Montana Ranks High for “Drowsy Driving Deaths” Nationwide
As a content creator, I receive emails all day, every day, regarding some kind of rankings or study. For instance, I received two story ideas today. The first was titled "The budget-friendly road trip crossing 8 US states." It was a fun story about taking a road trip across several southern U.S. states, but unfortunately, it didn't involve Montana. I had to scrap the idea.
The second story I received was about "drowsy driving deaths nationwide."
Sigh.
This story featured Montana towards the top of the list, so here we go, writing about the morbid tale instead of a fun road trip article.
Montana Ranks #13 For Drowsy Driving Deaths Nationwide
AutoAccident.com conducted a study, and a nice case of self-promotion, that Montana ranks 13th in the nation for "drowsy driving deaths."
Researchers at personal injury law firm AutoAccident.com analyzed traffic safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to reveal which states have the highest rates of drowsy driving fatalities and identify the deadliest times when these preventable crashes occur. - AutoAccident.com
There are 1.70 drowsy-related deaths per 100 thousand vehicles in Montana. The stats compiled come from 2019 to 2023. There were 40 deaths in Montana, which isn't a high number compared to more populated states, but still ranks as one of the highest rates in the nation.
