A lot of us spend time outdoors camping in this great state. This weekend while out in the woods, with my buddy who works in the woods for a living, I learned how to make simple fire starter that is handy in many situations or needs.

This is good to make on your next camping trip to have handy in the future or make at home. This fire starter is especially good for wet wood you may be trying to get to light.

Materials needed:

  • Egg Carton
  • Wood Chips
  • Sap from tree
  • Tin can ( fruit, soup or bean cans works great)

If you don't have a small bag of wood chips, gathering some woods chips and pine needles works too.

If you are ever in a situation where you need to start a fire, this is great to have. If you can find some trees with sap, cut the bark off and put in tin can.

Take that tin can and heat over a fire or even take home and heat on stove. The sap will begin to melt and bubble. Take out your egg carton and fill the bottom of each egg holder with woods chips/pine needles. Now take your can of sap and fill each egg carton holder with the sap and in a few hours you will have fire starter.

You can then take each holder apart from the next and just light the whole thing. It'll burn for 5-10 minutes straight and like I said will help wet wood light. People also have used lint instead of the woods chips.
