Here’s a First Look at the Exciting New Missoula Butterfly House
Way, way back in August of 2019, we found out about the closure of the Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium, which had seen great success in their building on Front Street. But even though the building closed, the Butterfly House was still in business - they were just working on something even bigger.
Plans were set in motion for the Butterfly House to relocate to a brand new building at the Missoula Fairgrounds. But, you know, they had to build it first. They broke ground on the building back in May of this year, and it looks like things are progressing as planned.
This week, the Missoula County Fairgrounds posted a render of what the building will look like when it's finally completed - check it out.
In the comments, one person asked when the project will finally be completed. The Fairgrounds responded and said that the building should be done in time for the next Western Montana Fair (though the surrounding gardens may take a bit longer).
It's great to see the Butterfly House finally getting close to having a new, permanent home - they've spent the last few years sort of in limbo with a location, though they've still remained active in the Missoula community. I know a lot of people are excited to check them out in this new building.
For the latest updates, you can follow the Butterfly House on their Facebook page. And you can find out more about what kind of events they're doing around town in the meantime over at their website.
