We Challenge You to Keep Your House Dirty New Year’s Day, Montana!
We all know about New Year's resolutions, those things you seldom keep much longer than three weeks?
Less observed are New Year's superstitions. So, as a public service to our dear readers, we put forth a challenge to you, one that we doubt will involve much kicking and screaming on your part.
There's an ancient tale that forewarns of the evils of cleaning your dwelling on New Year's day! The tale states that cleaning your house on New Year's Day is considered bad luck, as it symbolizes the sweeping away of the good fortune that might be bestowed upon you in the coming year.
It's as if you are removing potential prosperity with the dirt you clean up. And we don't just mean bashing dust bunnies or doing the dishes! Laundry, taking out the trash, boxing a room's clutter, vacuuming, cleaning the toilet, flipping the mattress...ANY cleaning chores should be avoided on the first day of the year to maintain good luck.
You see, the act of sweeping, straightening, polishing and other similar chores are viewed as removing positive energy. And we certainly don't want that to be the way you start 2025!
