How About a Montana Christmas in the Lewis and Clark Caverns?
If you're looking for a unique adventure with friends and family over the holidays, this might be the ticket.
Montana State Parks is once again selling tickets for Holiday Candlelight Tours at Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park. 'Tis the season to see the colorful limestone caverns lit by the festive glow of candle lanterns.
The Holiday Candlelight Tours will be offered December 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29. Eight tours are offered each day between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for those 12 and older and $8 for children aged 6-11. Children age 5 and under are discouraged from attempting the tour. Tour sizes are limited and tickets are non-refundable.
The two-mile tour takes about two hours. The first 1.25 miles is the walk to the cave entrance and may require walking in adverse weather conditions. The cave temperature is 48 degrees, but you should dress appropriately for what you may encounter outside the cave.
The visitor center will be open, serving coffee, tea and hot chocolate. You can get tickets and more information by visiting the Lewis and Clark Caverns website and by calling the visitor center at 406-287-3541.
Not for everybody, obviously, but a unique Montana winter adventure to be sure.
