Wild sheep to mule deer. Fish to fowl. Montana hunters and anglers have lots of annual themed banquets from which to choose.

One that draws a big crowd in Missoula is the Five Valleys Chapter of Pheasants Forever annual banquet. This year's event takes place this Saturday, March 29. And it's not too late to get tickets!

Banquet proceeds stay in Montana for local habitat projects and youth programs. Montana Pheasants Forever is a nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to the protection and enhancement of pheasants and other upland bird populations. Their website proudly proclaims that the are "the only national organization with a model of chapters keeping 100% of the funds they raise."

Montana is home to over 2,000 Pheasants Forever members and 14 local chapters spread throughout the state. Over their 30 year history, volunteers have helped raise $4.9 million toward habitat improvement, protection, and youth outreach programs in Montana.

While belonging to a larger national organization with a voice in federal and state conservation policies, chapters are tasked with finding projects for their funds. Montana takes full advantage of this model using funds raised for projects locally as well as other areas in the state of Montana.
