The cross-country ski trail at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds is becoming popular.

Fairgrounds Managing Director Cryss Anderson said the track in Hamilton was groomed this week, making the flat track even more desirable to those on skinny skis.

Last year, the weather limited use of the trail. But this year, people have been on the tracks throughout the day. Parking is along the southeastern edge of the Event Center parking lot. The trail starts there, loops around the rodeo arena all the way to the north edge of the grounds and back to the parking lot.

The fairgrounds is encouraging the public to use the tracks - free! The flat course is especially good for beginners who might feel a little intimidated by the trails at Chief Joseph Pass.

Anderson said the cross-country ski track is just another way the Ravalli County Fairgrounds helps the community year-round.
