With Thanksgiving almost here, you will find cranberry sauce along with stuffing and pumpkin pie puree on sale almost everywhere you go. So, why not buy it while it’s cheap and use it for something else besides just as a side dish for Thanksgiving dinner? Cranberry sauce is my husband, my kids’ and my favorite. We actually eat it all year round, which the rest of my family thinks is weird, but we love it.

When I ran across a super easy crockpot recipe that called for a delicious can of cranberry sauce, I just had to make it. As I expected, it was a huge hit. The taste of cranberry is not overpowering, but just a hint. In fact, my husband the cranberry lover, knew he liked the chicken, but couldn’t pinpoint the cranberry in it. I think it’s probably because the barbecue and the cranberry sauce balance each other out nicely.

Crockpot Cranberry Barbecue Chicken

3-4 chicken breasts

1/2 diced onion

1 can cranberry sauce

1 cup barbecue sauce

2 cloves garlic, minced

Mix together the cranberry sauce, barbecue sauce, onion and garlic in a bowl until combined.

Place the chicken in the bottom of the crockpot. Cover the chicken with the sauce mix and cook on low for six hours.
