Chase Rice adores Montana. The country music star has been seen on Instagram wearing Griz gear, he's appeared at Washington-Grizzly Stadium for Griz Football, he's performing at the Wilma in Missoula this Thursday, and he even took some time off to hunt in Montana.

I hope I can share this story, but I emailed Rice's team to have him on my sports talk show, The Daily Drive with Ace Sauerwein on KGRZ, and we were told he is elk hunting and most likely unavailable until Thursday's show.

Respect, Chase. Respect.

I think it's fair to say Rice loves Montana. These last few months weren't the first time Rice has had Montana at the forefront.

Circa 1943 by Chase Rice

Dennis, from Daybreak with Dennis, walked into my studio this morning to shoot the breeze when he brought up Chase Rice's song Circa 1943.

I hadn't heard Rice's single yet, but Dennis mentioned Rice has a line about Superior, Montana, in the new tune.

By the way, if you ever make it to Superior, Montana, my brother's band sure bangs around most Tuesday nights. -Circa 1943's chorus.

What up, Superior!

It's fun to hear small-town Montana mentioned in a new country song, but the vibe of the song is anything but cheery. In an interview on the Whiskey Riff Raff Podcast, Rice shared that Circa 1943 is one of his favorite songs on the upcoming new album, Eldora.

It's a melancholy story about a fictional couple that are separated by World War II.

"But yeah, it all leads to what happens in the end when she finally goes to Superior, Montana. - Rice on the Whiskey Riff Raff Podcast.

In the end, the couple wants to rendezvous in Superior. How cute is that?
