Car Theft Leads to Police Chase and Two Females Arrested
Just after noon on Tuesday, 9-1-1 received a report of a stolen truck on South Davis Street.
Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh provided details of the incident.
“At about 12:45 this afternoon we received a call of a vehicle just stolen in the 100 block of South Davis, and within a very few minutes officers spotted the vehicle on Reserve Street near the intersection of South Avenue. The driver of the vehicle became aware of the officers behind them and began driving recklessly, to include driving in opposing lanes of traffic. Officers reported heavy traffic in the area and they elected not to pursue.”
Welsh described how the suspects in the stolen truck were apprehended.
“Other officers had been converging on the area and noted that the vehicle had turned eastbound on River Road,” he said. “They then located the truck abandoned on River Place and began to set up a perimeter. Aided by residents in the area who were reporting sightings of the suspects, the officers quickly apprehended two female suspects, one adult and one juvenile and took them into custody and the vehicle has been recovered.”
Welsh said the suspects caused several crashes in their attempt to flee from officers, but there are no reports of serious injuries.
The two suspects are in custody, but no names have yet been released.
