This summer has started and I can imagine that everyone reading this are planning a camping trip in some way.

Some may be camping veterans and have everything planned out with confidence that you and you family are going to have the best time and create memories that will last for years.

Others may have that same energy but are new to camping want everything to be perfect, but just don't know where to start and don't want to just blindly put things together.

Of course you have the essentials on your check list like sleeping bags, tents, the s'mores, lanterns and flashlights, and mess kits. but there may be some things you wouldn't expect to keep with you to make camping a little more comfortable and efficient.

Muck Boots/ Rain boots

Along with rain jackets and ponchos, you may want to grab some muck boots for everyone. I recently went on a camping and fishing trip where we had nasty weather for two day and my trusty muck boots help me keep my feet dry and save my regular shoes.

Propane/Stoves

You might be convinced that you can cook food over the fire, and that makes sense. Making things on the provided grill and in dutch ovens are great. However a propane stove will make quick and easy work of a good breakfast or lunch to get back to the fun.

A Headlamp

It's obvious that one would bring flash lights on a camping trip. However, headlamps are very helpful with keeping your hands free for things to do and also avoiding the pain of having someone redirect a light while your trying the work in the dark.

Big Water Jugs

These days I see a lot of folks using disposable water bottles and packing them out. Getting some proper water jugs like Culligan tanks can be used in tangent with Nalgene bottles, and can keep the trash volume down.

Tools

Having tools for camping should be a thing to think about. Having axes, multitools, or  a sharp blade is a great idea to have just in case one has to fix tents, cooking tools or fishing poles.
