What’s it been now five months since the cell phone ban while driving went into effect here in Missoula? I know they gave us a month to get used to it before police started enforcing the law. Initially I noted a drop in cell phone use. Lately that trend seems to be reversing. I’m seeing more people on phones driving around the city. Now there’s a new report out that says crash deaths blamed in distracted driving are being seriously under reported. A recent analysis of state and federal data by the National Safety Council found that even when drivers admitted to authorities that they were using a phone during an accident in which someone was killed, about half the cases were not recorded that way.
