While this in not a new concept in airline promotion, I think this one is extremely imaginative. Behold the Alaska Airlines "Salmon-Thirty-Salmon." What a flying fish! The airline invested a big chunk of change (I heard 500 grand but couldn't confirm it) to paint a Boeing 737 to look like a wild Alaska king salmon. It's to promote Alaska seafood and the airlines' role in getting it to market. There's even fish scales on the plane's winglets. The project has gone smoothly, except aeronautics engineers are working on one flaw: At certain times of year the plane only wants to fly upstream. DB
