The Texaco Country Showdown is the largest country music talent showcase and radio promotion in the world! It is designed to find the most promising country music talent in America, and to give these performers a chance to launch their professional careers. Thousands of artists will compete as groups, duos and solo acts in the year 2012. Providing a platform for this talent are over 4,000 radio stations nationwide, all of which will hold a hometown country showdown throughout the spring and summer. Missoula’s big event will be held June 9 at The Rustic Hut in Florence.

The winner of that show will receive $500.00 and represent Missoula at the state contest, which will be held July 28 at the Montana State Fair in Great Falls. The state title includes one thousand dollars in prize money and the opportunity to advance to the regional competition this fall.

Regional winners will receive an all-expense paid trip to compete in the nationally televised finals. At stake is a grand prize of $100,000 and the coveted national title.

The entire contest – local, state, regional and national – uses a uniform judging system with five categories and a 10-point scoring system. The showdown also encourages the use of original music. Contestants may earn bonus points for performing their own musical compositions. One of the keys to the success of the showdown is the careful selection of judges.

Past individuals that the Country Showdown has helpled open the door for include Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Miley Cyrus, Brad Paisley and Miranda Lambert.
