The National Weather Service is expecting between two and three feet of new snow to fall on the mountain passes between Friday night and next Tuesday and from four to six inches in the Missoula valley.

After the snow that fell overnight in western Montana, a Winter Weather Advisory was issued for roads in the area, including the mountain passes.

Scott Price and Sarah McKnight were sentenced in Missoula District Court yesterday for the stabbing death of Lonnette Keehner at the Super 8 Motel last December. Price was sentenced to life without parole, while McKnight won't be eligible for parole for 60 years.

The National Weather Service is reporting that several bands of snow are headed towards the mountain passes and valleys of western Montana.

Update 5:00 p.m. Monday, July 28 - Clearwater County Sheriff Chris Goetz said the plane that crashed near Lolo Pass was a single engine Lance Air two-seat aircraft. Information received by Goetz's office indicates the pilot was flying from Richland, Washington to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for an Experimental Aircraft Association convention when the crash occurred.

After just a short time being closed, U.S. Hwy 12 over Lolo Pass has been re-opened. The Idaho D-O-T had closed it earlier this week due to avalanche danger. Weather conditions didn't happen the way the way they were predicted lading to less snow and warm weather...
