The annual Safe Kids Fair will take place this coming Sunday, September 23, from noon to 3 p.m. on the Community Medical Center campus. Safe Kids Coalition Coordinator Kira Huck explains what to expect.

“We have a lot of fun hands on activities for the kids and community safety experts that are coming out to provide some activities as well,” Huck said. “The Missoula Police Department will be there as well as several city and rural fire department and emergency responders. Life flight will be making a special landing at 1:00 p.m. We have some extra special guests. We have Smokey the Bear and Monte.”

Even though it’s called the safe kids fair, Huck says there’s a lot for parents and teens as well.

“The fire safety house will be there and that teaches kids and their parents how to escape a burning house,” Huck said. “It gives them a chance to practice calling 911. Parents can also try out the distracted driving course as well as teens. That gives them a chance to really see how much things like texting and driving or playing with the radio can affect your driving.”

The safe Kids Fair is free and open to the public, there will also be prizes and giveaways during the event.
