The 2nd annual Project Employment Connect event is this Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Learning Center and the Salvation Army. Rebecca Stancil works at the Missoula Housing Authority and she says this is a great opportunity for folks. The Salvation Army will provide interview clothes and much more.

“Folks might need a shower to help prepare them and the haircuts are always a great feature to these events,” Stancil said. “It is amazing to see transformation. We are offering free headshots this year. We have a volunteer that has the equipment and they are going to offer that. Salvation Army has a shuttle available so they will be able to take people back and forth.”

Stancil says the Learning Center has a computer lab that will be used to build or edit resumes.

“We also have a number of human resource volunteers from the community that are helping people with mock interviews,” Stancil said. “We will have veteran services available. We also have a number of education and training programs that are available through the state. We will have reading glasses if you need those. We will also have birth certificates and IDs for free. We are also offering a job fair.”

JR Strand is a Workforce Consultant with Missoula Job Service and he says several employers will be there as well.

“If you’re looking for work and you need any of these services, in addition to needing employment, this is the place to come,” Strand said. “We’ve got Goodwill Industries, Home Instead, Express Employment Professionals, Holiday Inn, Loves Travel Stop, LC Staffing, the National Guard, Costco, Missoula Works and H&R Block.”

In the past, Strand says some employers have hired people right on the spot. This event is sponsored by the At Risk Housing Coalition.
