As every woman knows, walking alone at night is dangerous. But if you have to, there's now an app to make it safer.
The Kitestring app lets you set up an estimated time for your trip – for example, how long it will take you to walk back to your apartment or dorm, or wherever you are headed. When the time period is up, the app will send you a text asking if you made it home OK. If you don't respond to the text, the app will automatically send the following text message to all of your pre-selected emergency contacts: "Hey, this is [YOUR NAME]. I'm going out for a walk. If you get this, I might not have made it back safely. Give me a call? (I used kitestring.io to send this message.)"
It's a brilliant idea that could give women some definite peace of mind when they feel uncomfortable traveling alone. (Jezebel)
