Nailschlagen? I don't know what that is, but if I had to guess, I'd say it sounds German.

Ok, let's look into this a little bit: Nailschlagen is a German game where players take turns hammering a nail into a stump... and that's it!

Well, hey, I can't think of a better way to try to win a free growler full of beer! Highlander Beer is holding a Nailschlagen tournament on Thursday, February 20th at 6 PM, and of course, beer is on the line.

Here's everything you need to know from their Facebook page, including the rules of the game:

NAILSCHLAGEN IS BACK AT HIGHLANDER BEER! Join us for a friendly competition of Nailschlagen! Nailschlagen, also known as Stump, originates from Germany and dates back to the early 1900s.

The tournament is completely free and you must be 21 or over to compete. Come to the TapHouse at 6:00pm Thursday February 20th and let the staff know you are playing. Please congregate in the stage inside by 5:55pm. First beer is only $2 for those competing!

Stumps will be arranged inside on our stage. Each player will receive one nail and will take turns beating the nail into the stump. The first person to hit the nail flat wins that round! We will repeat this process until the final two are left.

THE RULES:
1. Player must hold the end of the hammer
2. End of the hammer must be touching the stump to start
3. Player's swing may not be higher than the head
4. Each player gets one swing per turn
5. If player bends a nail, straightening the nail counts as their turn
6. To win, the nail must be driven completely into the wood

WINNERS WILL RECEIVE THE GOLDEN HAMMER AND A FREE GROWLER FILL OF BEER.
