MPD Arrest Man for Possessing Drugs and Resisting Arrest
Just before 9:00 Monday night, a Missoula Police Department officer passed a vehicle in the 3500 block of Mullan Road and he recognized the male driver. According to Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, the officer identified the male as 30-year-old Charles Comesatnight.
“The officer had prior knowledge that Mr. Comesatnight had an outstanding felony warrant and he attempted to make contact with him,” Welsh said. “As he approached and began to take Mr. Comesatnight into custody, he broke and ran from the officer. The officer gave chase and eventually tackled the male at a parking lot at that location.”
Welsh says the officer tried to place Comesatnight into custody, but the man resisted and a struggle ensued.
“Mr. Comesatnight refused to cooperate, fought against the officer’s efforts, and hid his hands underneath him,” Welsh said. “As other officers arrived, the officer was able to place Mr. Comesatnight into handcuffs and he was in custody. During the course of the follow up investigation, Mr. Comesatnight was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and a substance that was later determined to be heroin.”
Comesatnight was taken to the Missoula County Jail where he is currently being held on charges related to drug possession, resisting arrest, and the original felony warrant.
On July 31, 2019, Missoula police arrested Comesatnight for driving a stolen vehicle from the state of Washington.
