At around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, a Missoula police officer observed a male riding bicycle near the intersection of 11th Street and Kemp Street. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“The officer noticed that the bicyclist was not equipped with a headlight or a tail lamp on his bicycle and that he was also dragging another bicycle behind him,” Welsh said. “The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the male who was identified as 57-year-old Daniel Windmueller. As the officer investigated, he learned that the bicycle that Mr. Windmueller was dragging behind him had actually been reported stolen.”

According to Welsh, the officer continued his investigation and discovered additional criminal activity.

“As the investigation progressed, the officer soon learned that Mr. Windmueller was in possession of a substance that was later determined to be methamphetamine. He also discovered that the man possessed items that are commonly used in the distribution of dangerous drugs.”

Mr. Windmueller was placed under arrest and transported to the Missoula County Jail. He is currently being held for felony theft and felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs with the intent to distribute.
