MPD Arrest Man for Allegedly Biting, Punching, and Strangling his Boyfriend

Just before 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, a Missoula Police Officer met with an adult male at the police station. The male wanted to report a fight he had been in with his boyfriend earlier in the day at an apartment on Pine Street. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“The male hade evidence of injury about his body and described having been assaulted by 21-year-old Alan Logsdon,” Welsh said. “The victim reported that Mr. Logsdon appeared to be very intoxicated at the time and was acting strangely. He was upset about something that occurred that wasn’t directly associated with him and eventually tuned his anger to the victim.”

The male reported that from approximately 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., he was assaulted multiple times.

“The victim described being punched, pushed around the apartment, and being bitten multiple times,” Welsh said. “Two other officers went to the apartment on Pine Street and made contact with Logsdon. He was taken into custody, but not before refusing to cooperate. He pulled away from the officers and attempted to avoid being handcuffed.”

At one point during the assault, the male said Logsdon put his left hand over his mouth and his right hand over his nose for approximately 45 seconds. Court documents indicate while Logsdon was doing this, he was saying things like, “go to sleep,” “go to bed,” and “just lay down.”

The male said he couldn’t breathe and felt like he was drowning. When Logsdon finally let him go, the male began coughing heavily and threw up into a trashcan.

The male reported that during the fighting, Logsdon bit him multiple times, causing pain and no less than nine visible bite marks on his person.

Detectives questioned Logsdon at the jail the following day. He stated that he didn’t remember assaulting the victim. Logsdon was charged with felony strangulation of a partner or family member, partner or family member assault, unlawful restraint, and resisting arrest.
