Montana Folk Festival Postponed Until 2022
It seems like only a year ago that everything started to shut down and events started to get cancelled left and right... wait, that was just about a year ago! You're telling me we're not past this yet???
Well, we're in slightly better shape now, with the vaccine being developed and more and more people becoming fully immunized every day. But we're not done with this pandemic yet, and huge events that draw in big crowds are still going to have to wait a little while.
That's why this year's Missoula Marathon decided to go completely virtual, and it's also why the Montana Folk Festival in Butte has officially been postponed until 2022. Normally, it would have been taking place over the summer, but the organizers have made the announcement that they're pushing it to next year in the interest of safety.
They're following the lead of several other live events, like the aforementioned Missoula Marathon, or the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals. The organizers even note that the Olympics in Tokyo may take place this year, but there likely won't be people in the audience.
The Montana Folk Festival, presented by Mainstreet Uptown Butte, happened every year for 12 years until COVID shut it down in 2020 - typically, it showcases a bunch of great folk music acts over the course of three days in July. The rescheduled festival will take place on July 8th through 10th, 2022.
Have you ever been to the Montana Folk Festival? Do you think we'll see more events like it announce their cancellation or postponement in the weeks and months to come?
