I saw an Instagram post of the 10 Coldest Cities in the United States by average annual temperatures. Unfortunately, I lost that post. I didn't bookmark it because my brain is scattered like that, and I thought to myself, "Oh, I'm sure I'll remember where this post came from. I'll find it again later."

Well... I can't find that Instagram post now.

I did, however, locate the same article (I believe), thanks to a quick Google search, and discovered one of the coldest U.S. cities is in Montana.

The 2025-2026 winter has been unusually warm, so we'll see if Butte stays atop the coldest cities in America in 2026, but for now, it's among the chilliest.

You'll be shocked to hear the top 10 coldest cities reside in Alaska, North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, Michigan, and South Dakota.

The coldest city in the United States is Fairbanks, Alaska, with an average of 27.8°F.
