Missoula’s Never Forget Ceremony Open to Public Wednesday, 9/11
Enough years have passed that now there are so many people were too young to remember or not even born yet.
But for millions upon millions of us, it is difficult to imagine that there are many who don't remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when news started to pour in about what was happening to our country on September 11, 2001. And we can all pay our respect and show our gratitude in Missoula on Wednesday.
Everyone is invited to Missoula's "Never Forget Service," in Memorial Rose Garden Park, located at 800 Brooks Street. Starting at 6:00 p.m., 7,000 American Flags, donated by the Exchange Club of Missoula, will be placed in the ground (come early if you would like to help with that). The flags "honor those innocent civilians and military personnel who died on 9/11 and those first responders and military personnel that died afterwards recovering bodies and defending our safety and freedom from terrorists...we give tribute to them all."
At 7:00 p.m., there will be a procession of military and civilian honor and color guards from the park's Korean Memorial to the the Vietnam Memorial. The ceremony will begin after the procession. PLEASE NOTE: There is limited seating. If you do need to sit during the service, it is recommended that you bring lawn chairs.
The original World Trade Center was a complex of seven buildings in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan in New York City. Built primarily between 1966 and 1975, it was dedicated on April 4, 1973, and was destroyed during the September 11 attacks in 2001.
Each day so many remember the victims, the families, and survivors dealing with loss, recognizing the lasting consequences of 9/11 on individual lives. If you are among those who remember and would like to pay your respects, they would love to see you in Memorial Rose Garden Park on Wednesday evening.
