Missoula Police Arrest Man for Felony Assault With a Weapon
At around 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, someone called 911 and reported a disturbance at a motel parking lot in the 3000 block of Expo Parkway. While officers were responding, they were informed that both males involved had retrieved weapons and were threatening each other. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.
“When the officers arrived, they encountered a large group of people in the parking lot,” Welsh said. “Both subjects involved were quickly pointed out and an investigation ensued. There was no firearm involved, as initially reported. However, there was a knife involved a tool of some kind that could be used as a weapon. When the officers sorted it all out, 34-year-old Ricco Coates was placed under arrest for probation violation, assault with a weapon and criminal mischief.”
According to Welsh, Coates was charged with criminal mischief because he allegedly punched the second male’s car and caused damage.
