Missoula Parks and Recreation are currently building a new playground in Memorial Rose Park and they are in need of some help. Park and Trail Design and Development Coordinator Nathan McLeod says the park will be located at the corner of Brooks and Mount street.

“We are actually out here right now with volunteers,” McLeod said. “We are preparing everything today. We are getting tools put together and inventoried. We are digging some holes. We are building some benches and tables. We are all going to meet at 8 a.m. on Saturday. We are going to have all of our volunteers here that day. That is the day we will actually assemble the playground and install it in the play pod. It should be a really fun volunteer activity.”

McLeod says recreation staff will host games for kids so parents won’t have to worry about child care while they volunteer.

“They can go to our website, missoulaparks.org,” McLeod said. “There are some links at the bottom of that page that they can follow in order to RSVP. There is a waiver online that they can fill out, but we will have waivers here too for people that haven’t done that. If they are unable to sign up online, people can just show up and we will gladly take the help.”

According to McLeod, breakfast and lunch will be provided for all the volunteers. He says folks will also receive a complimentary T-shirt. Again, volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, August 17.
