Missoula Community Comes Together to Help Youth Homes
Youth Homes had their annual fundraiser last night this year's theme was "A Night In the Valley". There was an amazing spread put on by Bravo! catering.
There was plenty of entertainment. There was live music, an amazing auctioneer and the emcee of the evening was former Lady Griz Head Basketball coach Robin Selvig who gave a moving tribute to our late Mayor John Engen.
There were live and silent auctions featuring all kinds of great items including: Golf at the Spanish Peaks, Ski and Stay Package at Big Sky, Dinner for 8 from Bravo!, a Montana Made Custom Raft from Water Master, a Trip for two Ireland with the Friends of Irish Studies, guided fishing or hunting trips, a Finn Cycle custom scooter for golfing, and a 4th of July Boathouse stay at Glacier National Park.
It was a fun night but it was also a moving night. There were many stories posted of the youth that have been a part of Youth Homes and there were some tears as people read their stories. There was also a speech from one of the youth who has been in the foster care system and who has been a part of Youth Homes. His story opened my eyes to everything that Youth Homes does and the amazing work they do for children in our community. They can't do it without the help they get from our generous donations that contribute to their mission. Z100 has worked with Daily's Premium Meats to help raise funds for Youth Homes with our annual Bacon and Brew Fest in the past.
Youth Homes mission is a simple one according to their website: "to help every youth feel safe, have a sense of belonging and to find a place to call home." The annual fundraiser is a chance to the community to help with their vision "To provide an array of services to support children and families of Western Montana regardless of their ability to pay." If you every want to help a great organization here in Western Montana, keep Youth Homes in mind.
