For well over 100 years, it has been one of the mainstay events on the Missoula summer music calendar.

It is no secret that Missoula has more than its fair share of outstanding musicians. Fans wanting to hear fine band music performed mainly by local talent in an open-air, band shell concert atmosphere on beautiful summer nights have been flocking to Bonner Park in Missoula. And this coming week, the tradition continues. Yep, it's Missoula City Band free concert season!

Missoula City Band concerts are free and open to the public. Performances get underway at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evenings beginning this Wednesday, June 12. And a bonus performance on the 4th of July at Fort Missoula. Director Gary Gillett adds another year to his magnificent career leading the band. Here is the 10-show menu that Gary has prepared for you this season.

JULY 3: Patriotic Prelude

JULY 10: Special guests Sweet Adelines Choir

JULY 17: City Band Centennial Program with guest vocalist Elin Peterson

JULY 24: Special guests Bitterroot Community Band

JULY 31:  With special guests Montana Trombone Chorale

AUGUST 7: MCB 50th Anniversary of the 1974 Expo With guest vocalists Natalie Breshears & Mike Hanson

So, bring the lawn chairs, the blankets, whatever makes you comfy, and enjoy a free hour of magnificent music. And, if the kids are too restless, let them frolic in one of Missoula's prettiest city parks while YOU enjoy the music.
