Singer-songwriter legend Lyle Lovett is like that interesting uncle in the family you can't wait to hang out with, hear what he's been up to, who he's been playing with, and listen to the tales of his latest creations and adventures.

And for nearly 40 years now, Lyle has been filling that role for country music and associated genres, always defying the labels but carrying forward music's most important traditions.

Lovett has always been a favorite on his Missoula tour stops, and this summer won't be any different when he takes the stage at the Kettlehouse Amphitheater. And 94-9 KYSS FM would love to put you in the seats for what promises to be another memorable show.

A Texas musician through and through

Lovett's music roots run very deep in Texas, where he started as a songwriter, but quickly made such an impression as an artist that by the 1980s he was being offered record deals and studio time. His first self-titled debut album in 1986 caused an immediate stir with the Top 10 single "Cowboy Man", but he's never been one for labels, crossing effortlessly between country, folk, the blues, swing, jazz, and gospel music. Backed often by "His Large Band", Lyle's performance takes his fans on a journey every time he takes the stage.

In addition to collaborating with some of the best musicians of our time, Lovett has also acted and composed many film scores.
