Lost Trail Ski Area has been collecting a little more snow over the last couple of weeks, and are expecting two more snow events this week - New Year's Eve and January 3rd. The ski area at the south end of the Bitterroot Valley is 35 percent open, with Chairs 1 and 2 and the Rope Tows running daily from now until January 5th. Then, they'll go back to their regular Thursday through Sunday weekly schedule. There's 30 inches of snow at the summit and 23 inches at the lodge with nine groomed trails as of December 30. Daily conditions are at their website.

By the way, the annual Winter Special Olympics is planned for January 28 and 29. Volunteers are always welcome to help show these special athletes a memorable time at Lost Trail.
