Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On November 17, 2023, Missoula Police took a report from a female who reported that she was walking out of a store with a friend when other people noticed a male who seemed to have a problematic history with them.

According to court documents, the male pulled out a plastic sword and threw it at them. He then spat in her face. He walked away, but she saw him spit at multiple other people as he walked away.

At approximately 1:32 p.m., an employee of a business on S. Higgins reported that a male came up to their window and started hitting it with his fist until it broke. The estimate for the damage to the window is $2,000. He was believed to be the same suspect in the spitting assault.

Missoula Police Identify the Suspect

The male was described as wearing a Carhart jacket and carrying a sword. Prior to this incident, a Missoula Police Department officer had encountered a male matching this description at the library. The officer contacted the library and they told her the male was 34-year-old Andrew Schroeder.

A short time later, the Johnson Street shelter called 911 to notify them that Schroeder was there and that he had previously been trespassed. Officers arrived and arrested Schroeder. He was read his Miranda rights and admitted to breaking the window and spitting on people. Schroeder was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. He is currently being charged with felony criminal mischief and assault.

Schroeder is also facing an assault with a weapon charge from an incident that occurred last month.
