Pregnant Probationer Tests Positive for THC, Meth, and Alcohol

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On August 18, 2026, 32-year-old Michaela Kerner appeared as directed at Missoula Probation and Parole. A probation officer escorted Kerner straight to the bathroom before meeting with her to conduct a urinalysis. Kerner provided a small sample for analysis. The PO asked Kerner what medications she was currently on, and she replied with a few prescriptions and extra-strength Tylenol. According to court documents, Kerner is approximately 33 weeks pregnant.  

The PO noted that Kerner’s urine sample was positive for THC, methamphetamine, and alcohol. Kerner first tried to claim that she had drunk Kombucha against doctor's orders, but the PO replied that she had used that excuse before. The PO then asked about the methamphetamine positive, and Kerner denied use but stated she was at a house yesterday getting her belongings and they were smoking.  

Kerner proceeded to admit to hitting a vape with an unknown substance the day prior. The PO placed Kerner into holding for further investigation. The PO noted that Kerner’s urine sample was not large enough to send to the lab for testing, so while she was waiting for her to be able to provide another sample, she conducted a search of Kerner’s belongings she brought to the office.

A Routine Search: What Was Found in Her Bag?

In the bag, the PO observed food items, make-up, paperwork, a vape, her prescriptions, and a small bottle of extra-strength Tylenol. The PO inspected the Tylenol bottle and found a small glass jar with a tiny spoon attached to the lid on the inside. The PO also observed a white powdery substance inside the glass jar. The PO contacted the Missoula Police Department and informed them of the findings. 

An MPD officer was dispatched to assist the PO at her office. The officer observed the glass container and noted the small amount of a white powder-like substance. Based on the officer’s training and experience, he recognized the substance and the manner in which it was contained/possessed as dangerous drugs. The substance was later weighed inside the small glass container at a total package weight of 12.09 grams. This substance later tested presumptively positive as Ketamine utilizing the Missoula Police TruNarc scanner. 

The officer then contacted Kerner and advised her of her Miranda rights, which she stated she understood. When questioned, Kerner stated that she had been using dangerous drugs several times while pregnant; however, she noted she had not recently used. Kerner advised she did not know what the glass container was or what the substance was.

Contradicting Claims: Who Does the Glass Jar Belong To?

Kerner claimed, at first, that the glass container and substance were not hers. Upon further questioning, Kerner stated she had grabbed the Tylenol bottle a couple of days ago when she was collecting some personal items. Kerner said she thought that only Tylenol pills were inside. 

Kerner was arrested and transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. She is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and probation violation.
