Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On October 19, 2023, at around 12:49 a.m., Missoula Police Department Officers responded to a burglary in progress at a residence in the 1900 block of S. 7th St. W. The female complainant stated that an unknown male was banging on her window and tried to enter her window, but it was locked.

He then attempted to kick in the front door. When officers arrived, they could hear a male. The male first ran straight towards the officers. He initially ignored commands to stop but eventually complied. He identified himself as 21-year-old Maxwell Kosola.

When he was placed under arrest, officers could smell alcohol. He was heavily intoxicated and unable to explain how he was at that location. He was Mirandized and agreed to speak. Maxwell said he was at bars drinking and was provided a ride to that location. He then began yelling obscenities at law enforcement.

According to court documents, the home was occupied by two females. One of the females had been watching TV and heard a bang on a window attached to a bedroom. She also heard a male yell f**k you. The female then heard a bang come from a window in the living room and called 911.

The female then heard the exterior door open into a mudroom. The female heard a kicking noise on the second door that separated the mudroom area from the living room. The female heard the door handle jiggling. The male was also screaming at the time.

The other female resident helped with the 911 call because the first female was too scared and panicked. Part of the screen on the glass exterior door was damaged during this incident.

Maxwell was placed under arrest and he was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. He is currently being charged with felony attempted burglary. On October 19th, 2023, Maxwell made his initial appearance in Missoula Justice Court.
