Three Montana basketball stars, two of which have another season remaining, have been recognized for their off-the-court academic achievements.

On Tuesday, the National Association of Basketball Coaches honored the nation's top basketball student-athletes. Jamar Akoh, Fabian Krslovic and Michael Oguine were named to the 2017-18 Honors Court, an award that recognizes talents displayed off the court and in the classroom. To be eligible, a player must be a junior or senior with at least a 3.2 grade point average.

Jamar Akoh, who is studying management, just completed his first season playing for the Griz. He ranked in the top 15 in the Big Sky Conference in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage. He was a third team all-conference selection.

Fabian Krslovic received the honor for the second year in a row. During his career which ended in March of this year, he played in a school-record 132 games. He was a four-time Academic All-Big Sky Conference selection.

Michael Oguine was named Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Most Outstanding Player at this year's conference tournament. He also earned Academic All-Big Sky for the third year in a row.

While Fabian graduated, we have another exciting season to look forward to watching Michael and Jamar play their senior years. Griz Nation can be proud of these genuinely good guys! Our thanks to Nic Hallisey, Assistant Director of Communications, UM Athletic Department, for sharing the good news with us!
