Give yourself a round of applause, Montana. Just make sure your hand is wrapped up because you don't want to catch anything, just in case.

Montana Practices Safe Sex

Stats Panda looked at the rates of chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis in all 50 U.S. states.

Fortunately, Montana ranked low in all the categories.

Montana ranks 41st in the nation in cases of chlamydia per 100,000 people, with only 365 cases.

What is chlamydia?

Chlamydia is a common STI that can cause infection among men and women. It can cause permanent damage to a woman's reproductive system. This can make it difficult or impossible - CDC

Be on the lookout for chlamydia because it is often symptomless.
Montana ranks 39th in the nation in cases of gonorrhea per 100,000 people, with only 131.

What is gonorrhea?

Gonorrhea is an STI that can cause infection in the genitals, rectum, and throat. It is very common, especially among young people ages 15-24 years. - CDC

Gonorrhea will show up in symptoms - painful urination, some gross discharge... Yuck.

Montana ranks 41st in cases of syphilis per 100,000 people, with only 8.7.

What is syphilis?

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection that can cause serious health problems without treatment. Infection develops in stages (primary, secondary, latent, and tertiary). Each stage can have different signs and symptoms. - CDC

Syphilis is rarer but can be very detrimental.

Bottom line: Good job on staying safe and clean, Montana. I'm a little surprised, considering Montana is generally known as a "sexually adventurous" state.
